Rep. Marci Mustello and Sen. Scott Hutchinson have announced a total of $2.1 million in grants for water system improvements in Butler County, Pennsylvania. The borough of Chicora is set to receive $1.5 million, while the Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township will be granted $600,000.

“These grants represent key investments in the future of these communities by protecting public health and ensuring a clean, reliable water supply for area residents,” said Mustello. She praised local officials for their efforts in identifying the needs and planning improvements for the water systems.

Hutchinson added that “these waterline projects will ensure clean and reliable water service to businesses and residents of Buffalo Township and Chicora Borough, and this funding will ease their financial burden.” He expressed satisfaction with collaborating with Mustello and municipal officials to secure state assistance.

The funds allocated to Chicora will be used to replace existing water lines, while Buffalo Township's grant will support the Route 228 West/Ekastown area waterline extension project. The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved these grants on Tuesday, which are funded from various sources, primarily federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money appropriated for recreation and conservation as part of past Pennsylvania state budgets.
