Torrential downpours and rapid flooding are unpredictable, but Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors are joining their neighbors in being better prepared when the rain falls.
The Board on August 4 approved a resolution supporting grant applications to the Butler County Municipal Infrastructure Program from all municipalities that are participants in the southwest Butler County Joint Stormwater Planning Group.
The group was formed in response to significant flooding experienced in 2019 in the Southwest portion of the county. Cranberry joins Butler County, as well as Adams, Forward, Jackson, and Lancaster townships, along with Evans City, Harmony, Seven Fields, and Zelienople boroughs, in backing the plan.
The collaborative effort aims to find ways to mitigate future flooding and has led to the development of the Lower Connoquenessing Stormwater Planning Study.
