Mars and Zelienople awarded over $224K in PennDOT grants

State Rep. Stephenie Scialabba | Pennsylvania 12th Legislative District

Rep. Stephenie Scialabba (R-Butler) announced that Mars and Zelienople boroughs will receive a combined $224,108 from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) to support ongoing projects.

The allocations are as follows:

- Mars Borough: $151,868 for the reconstruction and resurfacing of Spring Avenue Road.

- Zelienople Borough: $72,240 to install a pedestrian crosswalk at the intersection of Main and Spring streets.

The MTF aims to ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for all Pennsylvanians. The funding is intended to improve transportation infrastructure, enhance communities, promote pedestrian safety, and support transit revitalization.

Starting September 23, PennDOT will begin accepting applications for the next round of grants under this program. Applications are due by 4 p.m. on November 5. Grant recipients will be announced next year for funding available in July 2025.
