Weathering the Storm: Stormwater items gain approval

Genbusiness002

Cranberry issued the following announcement on Mar. 3.

Even though they’re called 100-year storms, torrential rains have deluged Southwestern Butler County in recent years.

Ensuring the Township is doing all it can to keep houses and businesses above water was on the agenda three-fold at the Board of Supervisors March 3 meeting.

The Board approved a resolution offering continued support and participation in the Southwest Butler County Stormwater Planning Group. The group was formed following excessive flooding in 2019.

Cranberry joined Adams, Forward, Jackson, Lancaster, and Penn townships, as well as Evans City, Harmony, Seven Fields, and Zelienople boroughs to identify priority projects to be added to Butler County’s Act 167 Stormwater Plan. Each community will contribute $2,000 toward those efforts, with Cranberry serving as the contracting agent and administrator of the funds.

The Board also approved a contract with PVE LLC to conduct a Southwest Region Stormwater Study which will look at the southern corner of the Township including the Woodlands, Sun Valley and Freedom Woods plans. The study will look at overall flow patterns of storm events in the Township and will allow for continued infrastructure integrity.

Elsewhere, the Board also approved a contract with PVE LLC to conduct a Stormwater Study in the Fox Run area of the Township.
