The incumbent for Director of Utilities will play an integral role in guaranteeing various utility services are provided to Township residents and businesses in a manner that supports and promotes public health and public safety. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Township’s sewer system including treatment and collections operations , as well as drinking water services, stormwater, and solid waste. Along with managing the daily operations, this position requires strategic planning capabilities and is responsible for establishing and implementing short-term and long-term goals to ensure long-term efficient operation of all relevant services.
This position is responsible for leading a team of both bargaining unit and non-bargaining unit employees and requires an individual who will support and motivate staff and promote the development and growth of others. The successful candidate for this position must have expertise and knowledge in utility management that can be used to develop policies and procedures, as well as determine and implement efficient and innovative ways to accomplish the organization’s strategies. The ability to support and motivate others is a critical key to success.
Required Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, public administration, or related field, supplemented by ten years of progressively responsible engineering or utility service experience with at least three years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Five years of utility management experience in a union setting, with a focus on water treatment and distribution and wastewater treatment and collections preferred.
Approximate annual salary of $95,000-$105,000, but will be determined based on successful candidate’s qualifications, plus our fringe benefits package.
