State Rep. Marci Mustello | Pennsylvania 11th Legislative District
Rep. Marci Mustello of Butler has announced that fire companies and EMS agencies in her district have received state grants totaling nearly $223,000. The funds are provided by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) as part of a grant program established by the Legislature and managed by both the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and OSFC. The grants are funded through slot machine gaming revenue, not from General Fund tax dollars.
Mustello expressed gratitude for the work of first responders, stating, "I thank our first responders for their dedication and commitment to public safety." She emphasized their role in the community: "First responders are a vital part of our Butler County community. These men and women should be considered heroes because they are the first ones on the scene and must be quick to react to various situations."
The funding will support upgrades, renovations, and critical projects within local fire companies and EMS agencies. Among those receiving grants are Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company with $14,563; Butler Ambulance Service Company with $10,000; Butler City Fire Department with $15,000; Butler Township Volunteer Fire District with $45,000; Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association (Fire) with $15,000; Chicora Community Hose and Relief Association (EMS) with $10,000; East Butler Volunteer Fire Company with $13,089; East Butler Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance with $10,000; Herman Volunteer Fire Company with $15,000; Karns City Regional Ambulance Service with $10,000; Lick Hill Volunteer Fire Department with $12,352; Oakland Township Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Company with $13,089; Sarver Volunteer Fire Company with $14,318; Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company with $14,808; Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Ambulance also receiving $10,000.
