Rep. Marci Mustello, representing Butler County, has been appointed to three House standing committees for the 2023-24 Legislative Session. She will serve on the Appropriations, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Gaming Oversight committees.
Mustello expressed her commitment to her role on the Appropriations Committee, stating: "As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I am committed to protecting the hard-earned money of the taxpayers of Butler County." She emphasized her dedication to ensuring that Pennsylvania's budget is efficient and accountable.
The House Appropriations Committee plays a crucial role in overseeing state government spending and developing a state budget each fiscal year. The committee is responsible for reviewing all state budget legislation originating in the House of Representatives.
Appropriations Chairman Seth Grove welcomed Mustello's appointment, saying: “I am very pleased to have Rep. Mustello on the Appropriations Committee. Her experience is going to be needed to assist the Committee’s many upcoming tasks."
Mustello also brings her experience with local agriculture leaders to her position on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee. "I have worked extensively with the Butler County Farm Bureau and agriculture leaders in Butler County," she said. The committee addresses issues impacting farmers, timber industry regulations, food safety, and more.
In addition to these roles, Mustello will contribute to overseeing Pennsylvania’s gaming industry as part of the Gaming Oversight Committee. This committee examines future legislation related to gaming before it reaches broader legislative consideration.
Committees are essential components of legislative processes where bills undergo review and potential amendments before reaching a full House vote.
