We mourn the four Pennsylvania firefighters lost in the line of duty this week.
Two firefighters lost their lives after being trapped while fighting a fire in West Penn Township, near Tamaqua in Schuylkill County.
One was struck while directing traffic, and another experienced a heart attack after responding to an incident.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to all loved ones and colleagues, and remind Pennsylvanians to help protect firefighters by limiting their fire risk. Ensure your homes are equipped with functioning smoke detectors, have an escape plan, and never go back in to a burning building.
Motorists: Slow down and move over near the scene of emergency incidents. Emergency responders deserve to get home to their loved ones at the end of the day.
