Connoquenessing Elementary School issued the following announcement.
Dear BASD Parents/Guardians:
One individual from our Intermediate High School community self disclosed that they have tested positive for COVID-19. All individuals who were determined to be close contacts in this case are adults. They have all been notified and are not present at our schools. Due to privacy laws, we can not share additional information.
As a precaution, we have sanitized the areas this person came in contact with. This is in addition to the cleaning procedures that are already in place on a daily basis.
We will continue to communicate with the Pennsylvania Department of Health for guidance and direction. At this time, we anticipate that the Pennsylvania Department of Health will direct all individuals identified as close contacts to self quarantine. However, your child does not need to voluntarily quarantine, unless he/she has been instructed to do so by the Department of Health or is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
A list of possible symptoms can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website. Please continue to closely monitor your child’s health, over the next 14 days.
If you have any concerns about the health of your child, it is recommended that you contact your child’s healthcare provider for additional guidance. You may also contact any of the following resources for additional support:
Butler County Warmline: 724-431-2488, Option 6 (6 pm-9 pm daily)
PA Statewide Support & Referral Helpline for COVID-19: 1-855-284-2494 (toll free)
The health and wellbeing of our students and staff is of utmost importance to us. We will continue to thoroughly clean with special attention to high traffic areas and frequently touched objects. In addition, the infected individual will not be permitted to return to school for at least two weeks and until they have written permission to return from their healthcare provider.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Brian J. White, Jr., Ed.D.
Superintendent
Butler Area School District
