Butler Area Independent High School issued the following announcement.
Dear BASD Parents/Guardians:
One individual from our McQuistion Elementary School community self disclosed that they have tested positive for COVID-19. The individual has not been at school since last week. It was determined that they did not have any close contacts at school. Due to privacy laws, we can not share additional information.
As a precaution, we are sanitizing the areas of the school this person came in contact with this evening. This is in addition to the cleaning procedures that are already in place on a daily basis.
We will continue to communicate with the Pennsylvania Department of Health for guidance and direction. At this time, your child does not need to voluntarily quarantine, unless he/she has been instructed to do so by the Pennsylvania Department of Health or is showing symptoms of COVID-19.
A list of possible symptoms can be found on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website. Please continue to closely monitor your child’s health, over the next 14 days.

The health and wellbeing of our students and staff is of utmost importance to us. We will continue to thoroughly clean with special attention to high traffic areas and frequently touched objects. In addition, the infected individual will not be permitted to return to school for at least two weeks and until they have written permission to return from their healthcare provider.
