Cost of college went up for all students at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania

In-state tuition and fees rose 5.4 percent for 2018-19 at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania residents paid $10,757 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $552 more than the $10,205 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 35.9 percent more than residents this year, or $14,615. Their price tag grew 3 percent from $14,193 in 2017-18.

About 89 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Pennsylvania residents. About 10 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 931 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.6 million and 1,272 students took out student loans totaling more than $11.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (8,803), 4,750 students used grants or scholarships totaling $29.2 million, and 5,332 students took out $35.8 million in federal student loans.
