Nearly $1.2 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants have been approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support several community projects across Butler County, according to an announcement from Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler).
The LSA grants are funded through gaming revenues under Act 71 of 2004 and are intended for economic development, community improvement, and other projects that enhance quality of life for Pennsylvania residents.
“These grants are meaningful investments in the safety, reliability and long-term sustainability of our communities,” said Mustello. “By supporting critical water and sewer infrastructure, essential municipal equipment and historic preservation, these projects will help Butler County municipalities continue delivering the services residents rely on now and in the future.”
Mustello worked with Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler/Clarion/Erie/Forest/Venango/Warren) to advocate for this funding.
Projects receiving funds include:
– Chicora Borough: $250,000 for improvements to the borough’s water filtration plant. The project includes installing a green sand filtration package, pre-reaction tanks, a backup generator, electrical and building upgrades, replacing chemical feed equipment, and upgrading the pumping system.
– Clearfield Township: $162,290 to replace an outdated tractor and mower with modern equipment to improve safety and efficiency for road maintenance.
– Oakland Township: $141,244 for a new dump truck equipped for plowing and other municipal operations.
– Saxonburg Borough: $150,000 to renovate the historic Wire Rope Workshop building in Roebling Park. Work will address structural issues, drainage improvements, flooring repairs, parking area restoration, and sidewalk replacement.
– Summit Authority: $250,000 for a sanitary sewer extension project in Summit Township that includes constructing a treatment plant and installing related infrastructure.
– Winfield Township: $200,000 toward purchasing a new single-axle dump truck to support road maintenance and snow removal.
