Nearly $1.4 million in state funding has been allocated to water, sewer, and transportation projects in Butler County, according to an announcement by Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler). The grants come from the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
“These grants help communities address aging infrastructure and improve public safety while reducing costs for local taxpayers,” Mustello said. “Whether it’s upgrading sewer systems or repairing roads, these projects help make sure residents have dependable services and safer streets every day.”
Three projects will receive this funding:
– Saxonburg Area Authority will get $489,558 to replace two vitrified clay sewer lines on Carol Drive and Beatty Drive with PVC pipe. This upgrade is expected to reduce stormwater infiltration, extend the wastewater system’s lifespan, and increase capacity.
– Clearfield Township is set to receive $500,000 for reconstructing 2.6 miles of Clearfield Road. The project includes replacing culverts and inlets, resurfacing the road, and improving drainage.
– Oakland Township will use $400,000 for road enhancement and preservation efforts aimed at improving surfaces, addressing drainage issues, and enhancing travel safety.
The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program provides grants for municipal water-related projects costing between $30,000 and $500,000. Eligible uses include construction or repair of water supply systems as well as sanitary or storm sewers.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund supports economic development by funding improvements that enhance transportation assets such as roadsides, sidewalks, lighting, pedestrian safety features, connectivity of transit options, and related infrastructure within communities.
Both programs are administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support infrastructure development across Pennsylvania.
