Reps. Marci Mustello and Aaron Bernstine have announced a $25,100 low-interest loan for the Pennsylvania American Water Company. The loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) is designated for infrastructure improvements in Center Township, Butler County.

The funding will upgrade the Fisher, Brewster, and Brewster Booster pump stations. Planned enhancements include constructing new wet wells at Fisher and Brewster stations, adding an underground equalization tank at Fisher and an above-ground EQ tank at Brewster, installing new pumps, and updating emergency generators at each site. These upgrades are expected to improve system reliability and service efficiency for local residents.

“This is a smart investment that will improve the efficiency and resiliency of our regional wastewater infrastructure,” said Mustello. “These enhancements are essential in protecting public health, our natural environment, the longevity of the equipment at these facilities and the infrastructure itself. Furthermore, it prepares us better for future wet weather emergencies.”

Bernstine emphasized community benefits: “Strong infrastructure supports strong communities,” he stated. “These improvements will help ensure families and businesses in our region continue to have access to safe and reliable water service.”

PENNVEST has been providing financial assistance since 1988 through grants and low-interest loans for designing, engineering, and constructing drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater facilities across Pennsylvania.
