Three state grants have been announced to support recreation and conservation projects in Butler City and Winfield Township. Representative Marci Mustello, a Republican from Butler, revealed the funding totaling $571,000.
“These grants will provide much needed resources for several community projects that are poised to provide expanded access and opportunities for our local citizens and children,” Mustello stated. She added that the projects aim to enhance existing parks and recreational facilities within local communities. In particular, Diamond and Winfield parks will offer services to a broader area of residents in Butler County.
In Butler City, Emily Brittain Elementary is set to receive $45,600 for playground rehabilitation. The project includes constructing a pedestrian walkway, installing play equipment with safety surfacing, ensuring ADA access, landscaping, project signage, and site improvements.
The County of Butler will receive a $250,000 grant for Diamond Park’s rehabilitation and development across from the historic Courthouse. Planned renovations include plaza refurbishment, new pavilion construction, pedestrian walkway upgrades, lighting installation, utility enhancements, ADA access improvements, landscaping efforts, and new signage.
Winfield Township is allocated $275,400 for further development of its Community Park. This phase involves building a multisport court and pedestrian walkway.
These grants fall under the Community Conservation Partnerships Program managed by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The program offers financial and technical assistance to local governments and organizations for park planning and development projects.
