FOIA Request Sent to Butler City Employees Pension Fund Regarding Employee and Retiree Pension Details on September 20, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Butler City Employees Pension Fund on September 20, 2024. The request was made by our team at Butler County News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request seeks detailed information about all active employees and retired employees in the organization’s pension fund for the year of 2023. Specifically, we asked for a list including data fields such as last name, first name, middle name, date of birth, employer name, employment start date, employment end date, salary, compensation type, amount received from the pension fund, year of retirement or active service status, process date of their pension disbursement, last disbursement amount received from the pension fund and its frequency. We also requested information regarding their contribution amount for the year 2023.

As a news organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe that access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public and holding public institutions accountable for their actions and policies, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
