The Butler Area Public Library has been awarded a $95,131 state grant to support upgrades at the library, Rep. Marci Mustello announced on Apr. 7.

The funding is intended to help the library update its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, create public meeting space, and renovate the building for better accessibility. These improvements aim to enhance services for residents in the Butler area.

“Libraries are foundational community hubs for literacy, education and economic empowerment,” Mustello said. “This funding will be instrumental in helping the library update its heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, create public meeting space and renovate the building to make it more accessible, ensuring the library can better serve Butler-area residents.”

The grant comes from the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. This fund was established by Pennsylvania’s General Assembly in 1993 and uses part of the revenue generated by Pennsylvania’s Realty Transfer Tax.
